The security environment and contemporary challenges in the Black Sea region and the Ukraine conflict were in focus of a meeting involving Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and his Turkish and Azerbaijani colleagues, Hulusi Akar and Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Georgian Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

Hosted in the Turkish city of Kayseri, the ministerial meeting discussed the importance of strengthening energy security and diversifying energy carrier supply, with the parties also reviewing their defence cooperation and future plans.

Burchuladze noted joint military exercises and expert-level meetings would strengthen mutual compatibility, and informed his counterparts about the Georgian Defence Ministry’s reforms for developing the system and increasing combat readiness.
