Security environment in the South Caucasus region and the “peaceful and stable” development of the region were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, the Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, and Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Azerbaijani Defence Minister.
The officials underlined the “close” partnership and “friendly” relations between the two countries, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.
Matiashvili also met Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani armed forces.
The meeting focused on questions of cooperation in defence and military education, as well as joint participation in international defence drills.
