Georgia, Kazakhstan sign agreements to deepen economic relations

Georgian and Kazakh officials have signed several agreements during the ongoing visit of the Georgian Government’s delegation to Kazakhstan aimed at further deepening economic relations between the two countries, Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili announced on Wednesday.

Davitashvili said that one was a trade turnover nomenclature agreement that aims to further increase trade turnover between the countries, the Ministry of Economy announced on Wednesday.

We also agreed on cooperation in the field of information technologies and innovations. Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency will cooperate with the relevant agencies in Kazakhstan. An agreement was also signed between the railways of the two countries, in terms of the promotion of railway shipments", Davitashvili said.

The Minister added that transit flows between the countries was "one of the most important directions of cooperation" between Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Today, given the current situation, Georgia and the so-called Middle Corridor is gaining special importance, and not only Kazakhstan, but also other Central Asian countries are interested in Georgia. The conversation also touched on the improvement and modernisation of the existing infrastructure in Batumi, in order for Georgia to be able to carry more high-value cargo", Davitashvili said.

The Georgian delegation departed for an official visit to Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
