Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday congratulated Elizabeth II on her platinum jubilee and noted relations between the two countries at an event dedicated to the date at the British Embassy in Georgia.
The PM addressed the partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom, noting Britain had been a “perfect example” of “how traditions and culture can enhance modern statehood” based on the “principles of freedom, democracy and independence for each individual”, the Government Administration said.

On such a special day, I am pleased to note that our long-established friendship has continued in times of peace and hardship, and is reflected in the current political and economic partnership between Georgia and the United Kingdom”, Garibashvili said.
“The Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue are two important policy formats that open up new opportunities for further expansion of our bilateral cooperation in all sectors”, the Government head also noted.
Garibashvili also expressed his gratitude to Georgia’s partners for supporting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its Euro-Atlantic integration path.

He also highlighted the importance of joint efforts of the international community and the support of regional partners in time of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, and noted that as Associated Trio states of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine were waiting for their European partners to show the three countries are “not alone” in a in a “crucial moment” on the backdrop of the invasion.
