Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday congratulated Liz Truss on becoming Britain's new Prime Minister.
In her congratulatory remarks, Zourabichvili noted the positive nature of seeing another woman leader “in these crucial times” following the development.
“Good to see another woman leader in these crucial times that will work for security on our continent and a stronger transatlantic partnership”, she tweeted.

Zourabichvili stressed she looked forward to working together with Truss to strengthen the Georgian-British relations.
Truss was named the new PM on Monday after winning the leadership race for the governing Conservative party.
Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said Russia’s success in Ukraine would mean the “extinction of any hope of freedom” in Georgia and Moldova.

The year 2022 is special for relations between Georgia and the United Kingdom, with the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of re-establishing diplomatic ties. With the two states enjoying cooperation in areas including political relations, defence and security, economy, culture and education, the contemporary ties follow historical relations dating back before 1992, the year of the recognition of the modern Georgia as an independent state by the UK.
