Ski season is approaching and the International Ski Federation has confirmed the calendar of the events planned for the Georgian winter resort of Bakuriani.
In February 2022 Bakuriani will host Europa cup stages:
- February 19 - Parallel Slalom (Snowboard)
- February 20 - Giant Slalom (Snowboard)
In March next year Bakuriani will host the World Cup stages:
- March 5 - Freeski
- March 6 - Snowboard stage
In both competitions, athletes will compete in a slopestyle, a winter sport in which athletes ski or snowboard down a course including a variety of obstacles including rails, jumps and other terrain park features.

In 2023 Bakuriani will host Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.
The Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani will become one of the best resorts in Eastern Europe thanks to the new infrastructure developed for making Bakuriani the host resort for different international competitions, says Director of Mountain Resorts Development Company Irakli Tchirakadze.
The Ski Cross World Cup closed with a cross mixed-team event in the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani today. Ski events will continue in March as well. On March 3-5 Bakuriani will host the World Cup races for snowboarding.
The Ski Cross World Cup which kicked off in the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani yesterday has hosted a finale today. “Accompanied by good weather today's finals were impressive!” Georgian Ski Federation wrote on Facebook.
The 2021 winter season, which opened on March 8 and lasted just 49 days, is over in Georgia and the country’s most popular winter resorts hosted 134,183 visitors, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
Regulations for the coming winter season at Georgian resorts have been released, with rules for passenger capacity in ski lift gondolas and open lifts set for pandemic safety.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has handed over its standard flag to the International Ski Federation of Georgia as the ski resort of Bakuriani will host the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.

Georgia’s Bakuriani winter resort will have a budget of ₾100 million ($37mln) for the construction of venues that will host the 2025 European Winter Youth Olympic Festival.
