In-person studies to resume across Georgia on October 4

In-person studies will resume in Georgia starting October 4 as coronavirus daily cases are decreasing, the government of Georgia announced earlier today. 

Both public and private kindergartens, high and vocational education institutions will also be able to resume in-person studies. 

Children’s entertainment centres around Georgia will be allowed to reopen on October 4. 

Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli has stated that ‘all children will have to wear facemasks in schools’ to prevent a surge in new infections. 

The new academic year began in Georgia on September 15. However, due to the severe epidemiological situation in the country, the government decided to postpone in-person studies. 

Georgia has reported 2,185 new cases of coronavirus, 2,010 recoveries and 40 deaths in the past 24 hours. 

19,538 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.

In August and early September Georgia reported around 5,000-5,500 daily cases of coronavirus.
