The Georgian Ministry of Education has denied rumours that teachers will be obliged to get vaccinated against Covid-19. General Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Tengiz Tsertsvadze told Rustavi 2 on September 30 that ‘a draft law on mandatory vaccination for teachers is being prepared’.

The information spread by local media outlets that a draft law on mandatory vaccination is being prepared is not true”, reads an official statement of the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Education also notes that although vaccination against Covid-19 is not mandatory for teachers, the ministry constantly calls on them to be vaccinated in order for the learning  process to continue smoothly in a safe environment.

The ministry has always offered assistance to teachers in the registration process. Vaccination rooms have been opened in all cities specially for the representatives of the education system where they can get vaccination without prior registration.

The ministry said that 65% of public and private school teachers and school administration representatives have already been vaccinated in Georgia.
