UNICEF welcomes the Georgian government’s decision to reopen schools and pre-schools throughout Georgia from October 4.
Congratulations to all children, parents and teachers for school reopening and we do continue to partner with the Ministry of Education and Science and National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health on ensuring a safe environment in schools and pre-schools”, UNICEF says.
If further notes that UNICEF continues supporting the Ministry of Education and Science and National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health in promoting vaccination among teachers.
Vaccination of teachers is important to protect them from community transmission and to help keep them healthy so they can continue the inspiring work they do in the classroom”, it says.
Stressing that schools are central to children’s development, safety, and well-being, UNICEF says the risks to children, while they are out of school, are greater than the risks to them while in school.
