The international online educational platform CK-12 has become available in Georgian language for both teachers and students through a partnership between UNICEF Georgia, the Georgian Ministry of Education, Education Coalition and CK-12 International Fund with the support of the Norwegian government.
CK-12 provides students and teachers across the world with free online textbooks, videos, exercises, flashcards and other learning tools.
It was established in 2007, aiming ‘to make receiving a great education accessible to all’, after which the platform launched ‘fully customisable’ math and science textbooks for students and teachers.
The Head of Education Coalition Irina Khantadze says that CK-12 particularly is well-known for its resources in mathematics and the natural sciences, noting that ‘we translated these resources and made the interactive textbooks available on the CK-12 Georgian webpage.’

The textbooks which, can be called ebooks, consist of topics, paragraphs and each paragraph begins with a photo which is closely related to everyday life,” Chemistry, Biology and Physics mentor teacher Tinatin Zardiashvili says.
Education Programmes Officer of UNICEF Georgia, Maya Kuparadze, says that these digital textbooks assist schools and the educational system, noting that ‘first of all it helps teacher and student, and thus parents.’
The main goal of the cooperation is to make the learning process understandable and interesting for students,” Kuparadze added.
Overall, CK-12 has served more than 201 million users worldwide.
This project was undertaken as part of the ongoing 3-year inclusive education support programme which was launched on March 19, 2021, with the support of the Norwegian government, by the Georgian Ministry of Education, together with the UN Children’s Fund, with a total budget of 3 million USD.
