Georgia reports 1,751 new cases of coronavirus, positivity rate down to 4.1%

Georgia has reported 1,751 new cases of coronavirus, 1,633 recoveries and 30 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has come down to 4.1% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of September 30 in comparison to 5.80% of last two weeks.
In total, 42,657 tests have been conducted around the country of which 28,199 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,458 were PCR tests.
The new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 559 cases
- Imereti - 311 cases
- Kakheti - 269 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 183 cases
- Adjara - 121 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 97 cases
- Shida Kartli - 93 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 39 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 33 cases
- Guria - 33 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 13 cases
Currently 19,057 individuals remain infected with Covid-19, of which:
- 14,120 patients are undergoing treatment at home
- 4,169 patients - in hospitals
- 768 patients - in the clinical-hotels
In addition, 1,019 patients are in critical condition of which 247 are on artificial ventilation.
As of today 15,170 individuals are in self-isolation and 70 individuals are under quarantine.
Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 614,763 cases of coronavirus, 586,704 recoveries and 8,976 deaths.

“Covid-19 vaccination of the majority of the population by the end of 2021 is a complete fantasy”, Head of the National Immunisation Council Ivane Chkhaidze has stated today. While talking about the importance of mass immunisations, Chkhaidze noted that as the Delta Covid-19 variant is more transmissible and aggressive, the vaccination of only 60 per cent of the population is not enough to end the pandemic.
In-person studies will resume in Georgia starting October 4 as coronavirus daily cases are decreasing, the government of Georgia announced earlier today. Both public and private kindergartens, high and vocational education institutions will also be able to resume in-person studies. Children’s entertainment centres around Georgia will be allowed to reopen on October 4.
Georgia has received a million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, the Ministry of Health reports.Vaccination with Sinopharm is available for citizens over 18 years. Two doses are required for the vaccination which are given at 21-28 day intervals.

The positivity rate has gone up to 8.31% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 4 in comparison to 5.51% of last two weeks. In total, 33,679 tests have been conducted around the country of which 23,554 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 10,125 were PCR tests.
