Georgia reports 2,800 new cases of coronavirus, positivity rate up to 8.31%

Georgia has reported 2,800 new cases of coronavirus, 1,485 recoveries and 42 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 8.31% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 4 in comparison to 5.51% of last two weeks.
In total, 33,679 tests have been conducted around the country of which 23,554 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 10,125 were PCR tests.
The new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 882 cases
- Imereti - 572 cases
- Kakheti - 409 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 260 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 174 cases
- Shida Kartli - 153 cases
- Adjara - 103 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 77 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 66 cases
- Guria - 60 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 44 cases
Currently 19,131 individuals remain infected with Covid-19, of which:
- 14,509 patients are undergoing treatment at home
- 4,025 patients - in hospitals
- 597 patients - in the clinical-hotels
In addition, 947 patients are in critical condition of which 260 are on artificial ventilation.
As of today 15,084 individuals are in self-isolation and 34 individuals are under quarantine.
Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 593,153 cases of coronavirus, 578,881 recoveries and 9,110 deaths.
A total of 8,106 people have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours in Georgia while the target of the Georgian government is to vaccinate 30,000 people daily to reach its vaccination goal of 60 per cent of the country population by the end of this year. The vaccination rate began to decline several weeks ago and less than 10,000 vaccinations have been administered daily since the start of October.
Mobile units will be sent to various regions of Georgia providing services for citizens who wish to be vaccinated against Covid-19. "In order to increase the intensity of vaccination and ensure maximum access to vaccination, mobile units will be sent to various settlements in various regions to provide services on spot,” representative of the Interagency Coordination Council Giorgi Ghibradze announced earlier today.
In-person studies have resumed in Georgia today and the Ministry of Education says all public and private schools in the country are ready to receive students. The ministry announced that all schools in Georgia have been provided with disinfectant solutions, thermoscreen devices and disinfection barriers and the supply will be enough for the academic year.
Georgia has reported 1,164 new cases of coronavirus, 2,292 recoveries and 33 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Georgia has reported 1,751 new cases of coronavirus, 1,633 recoveries and 30 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has come down to 4.1% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of September 30 in comparison to 5.80% of last two weeks. In total, 42,657 tests have been conducted around the country of which 28,199 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,458 were PCR tests.
“Covid-19 vaccination of the majority of the population by the end of 2021 is a complete fantasy”, Head of the National Immunisation Council Ivane Chkhaidze has stated today. While talking about the importance of mass immunisations, Chkhaidze noted that as the Delta Covid-19 variant is more transmissible and aggressive, the vaccination of only 60 per cent of the population is not enough to end the pandemic.
Food facilities and bars will be allowed to work in Georgia until 23:00 instead of 22:00, announces Chief of the Operational Staff of the Interagency Coordination Council Giorgi Gibradze.
Georgia has reported 2,228 new cases of coronavirus, 1,711 recoveries and 28 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 7.0% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 6 in comparison to 5.63% of the last two weeks.
