Kindergartens, theaters to be opened on October 1 in Georgia – schools, cinemas to follow on September 15

Kindergartens and theaters will be opened on October 1 in Georgia, while schools and cinemas will open on September 15, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has announced.
In addition, the towns of Mestia and Lenjeri in western Georgia, which have been under lockdown since August 10, will open on September 2.
Deputy State Security Service Aleksandre Khojevanishvili said that all schools and kindergartens have been inspected in the country and meet the standards required for opening.
He added that the decision to open higher education institutions will be announced soon.
Public schools will be closed in Georgia until March 16 as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus. As of today, three Georgian citizens have tested positive for COVID-19, while 170 others, who have been travelling to countries with high risk of the virus, remain under the quarantine in Georgia.
Georgia has reported seven new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that one new patient contracted the virus from contact from infected individuals, four cases were ‘imported’ of which one is a truck driver and two are medical workers.
The next academic year may mix online and school studies, said Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabuania, noting that this method will give Georgia an opportunity to start and continue the academic year safely and avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
The study process will not be resumed at schools until September 1, however, distance learning will continue in Georgia.
The Georgian Labour Conditions Inspection Department has issued a series of coronavirus regulations for theatres to reopen on October 1.

The Georgian government’s key goal today is to manage the coronavirus pandemic with minimal risks as a new academic year is around the corner which will further increase mobility, especially in big cities, Georgian PM Gakharia said earlier today.
Kindergartens will be opened on October 12 throughout Georgia, excluding the Adjara region, as most of the newly infected cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the region in the recent weeks.
Kindergartens have opened today throughout Georgia except for in the Adjara region and Ozurgeti municipality where kindergartens are still closed amid severe epidemiological situations.
In-person studies will resume in Georgia starting October 4 as coronavirus daily cases are decreasing, the government of Georgia announced earlier today. Both public and private kindergartens, high and vocational education institutions will also be able to resume in-person studies. Children’s entertainment centres around Georgia will be allowed to reopen on October 4.
