Georgian health officials have warned the public that the next wave of Covid-19 will be ‘critically dangerous’ for unvaccinated individuals above 60.

The Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia said today that the mortality and hospitalisation rate are higher amongst individuals over 60 years of age, who are the least vaccinated group in the country.

Tamar Gabunia also noted that the unpredictable nature of Covid-19 gives health officials reason to think that there may be another wave of the pandemic in the country starting next year.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said on September 8 that the Georgian government will offer incentives to pensioners in the coming future to encourage them to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
