The new building of Batumi Republican Hospital has been flooded following heavy rainfall in western Georgia, local media outlet Batumelebi reported today.

Batumelebi’s source reported that this is not the first time ‘when the ground floor of the new building has been flooded’ noting that the water gets into the building from the soil as well.

The Batumi Republican Hospital’s press office denied the fact of water rising from the soil.

Batumelebi published the video of heavy rain in Georgia's seaside town Batumi:

Batumelebi reports that the manager of Batumi Republican Hospital ‘tried several times to solve the problem, but in vain.’

The hospital stated that due to heavy precipitation ‘the drainage channels were overloaded’ and the water entered the ground floor of the building.

They also noted that a technical group is working to solve the problem.

The work of the hospital was not delayed due to the incident. We continue to work at full capacity,” Batumi Republican Hospital stated.

There are staff rooms on the ground floor of the hospital and the parking space as well.

More than 100 crossroads in Batumi have been flooded and traffic disrupted today.

A Kyiv-Batumi plane landed in Tbilisi instead of Batumi International Airport due to the bad weather.
