Pfizer vaccine in Georgia: registration starts today, vaccination begins July 16

The Pfizer vaccine is already available in Georgia and residents can start registering to receive the jab at https://booking.moh.gov.ge starting today at 15:00, announces the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
Vaccination applicants can also register directly during a visit to clinics.
The registration will end on July 16 and the vaccination process will start the same day, the ministry added.
At the first stage seven medical facilities will offer the Pfizer vaccine:
- Amtel Hospital in Tbilisi
- Caucasus Medical Centre in Tbilisi
- Central Republican Hospital in Tbilisi
- Bokeria Tbilisi Referral Hospital
- Republican Clinical Hospital in Batumi
- West Georgia Medical Center in Kutaisi
- Military Hospital in Gori

The Ministry of Health said that gradually 80 medical facilities will be involved in the immunisation process.
The two doses required for Pfizer vaccination will be given at 21-28 day intervals.
The Ministry of Health reported that under the agreement with Pfizer, Georgia will gradually receive 1,000,350 doses of the vaccine.
Overall, vaccination in Georgia is currently available with Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sinocav vaccines.
Georgia has reported 1,663 new cases of coronavirus, 769 recoveries and 13 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 35,559 tests have been conducted around the country of which 18,254 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 17,305 were PCR tests. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 381,336 cases of coronavirus, 361,327 recoveries and 5,492 deaths.
Georgian health officials warn of a potential fourth wave of coronavirus in the country if individuals refuse to receive the vaccine and act in line with recommendations. Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says there is an increased infection rate among children in particular. She said that within the past two or three days 'we had to mobilise additional pediatric beds'.
Georgia has reported 1,862 new cases of coronavirus, 619 recoveries and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 35,117 tests have been conducted around the country of which 20,996 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,121 were PCR tests. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 379,673 cases of coronavirus, 360,558 recoveries and 5,479 deaths.
Georgia has received 43,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine this morning. These 43,200 doses of the vaccine will be administered to individuals registered for the second jab, the Georgian Ministry of Health says.
Servicemembers of the Georgian Defence Forces and dancers of the celebrated Sukhishvili and Erisioni national troupes have used their Covid-19 jabs to urge citizens to vaccinate, as Georgia begins to receive delayed batches of Covid-19 vaccines.
Georgia’s vaccine registration portal https://booking.moh.gov.ge is now functioning normally again after experiencing technical issues for several hours earlier today. Registration began at 15:00 however due to technical issues residents were unable to complete the process.
Georgia has reported 1,398 new cases of coronavirus, 1,164 recoveries and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 30,867 tests have been conducted around the country of which 16,167 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,700 were PCR tests. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 382,734 cases of coronavirus, 362,491 recoveries and 5,503 deaths.
Attendance at conferences, trainings and seminars will be allowed only on the basis of PCR test starting July 19. Regardless of their organisational form and venue, camp-type gatherings will be prohibited in Georgia starting July 19.
Georgia has reported a total of 1,808 new cases of coronavirus after conducting 15,268 PCR and 19,711 rapid tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 1,808 new cases 1,046 were reported in Tbilisi.
Registration for the first dose of Pfizer vaccine will start tomorrow and the Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze promises the registration website https://booking.moh.gov.ge will work without issue.
Individuals vaccinated at the Central Republican Hospital in Tbilisi will be observed for adverse effects in specially arranged field tents, reports Interpressnews agency.
