Attendance at conferences, trainings and seminars will be allowed only on the basis of PCR testing starting July 19.
Regardless of their organisational form and venue, camp-type gatherings will be prohibited in Georgia starting July 19.
Individuals under the age of 18 will be allowed at sports tournaments and training sessions only on the basis of PCR tests.
Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia stated on July 15 that due to the worsening epidemiological situation some restrictions would be imposed again in the country.
Gabunia noted that Covid-19 is spreading fast and without intervention this rate would increase further.
Earlier this week head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated that the epidemic situation in the country is deteriorating and the NCDC has submitted three recommendations to the coordinating council, which includes further intensification of vaccination against Covid-19, further expansion of testing and full compliance with existing recommendations and restrictions.
A 25-day-old newborn has died of coronavirus in Tsitsishvili Children’s Clinic in Tbilisi today. Medical director of the clinic Maia Chkhaidze told Interpressnews that the baby contracted coronavirus from family members.

Georgian health officials warn of a potential fourth wave of coronavirus in the country if individuals refuse to receive the vaccine and act in line with recommendations. Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says there is an increased infection rate among children in particular. A newborn transferred from occupied Abkhazia to Tsitsishvili Children’s Clinic in Tbilisi has tested positive for the Delta Covid-19 variant. Director of the clinic Davit Rekhviashvili says currently there are three newborn children with respiratory complications in the clinic who have tested positive for coronavirus.
Georgia has reported 1,286 new cases of Covid-19, 1,701 recoveries and 13 deaths over the last 24 hours. Out of the 1,286 new cases 759 were reported in Tbilisi. As of now the number of total confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Georgia stands at 387,481, including 365,019 recoveries, 5,551 deaths and 16,885 active cases.
Georgia has reported 848 new cases of coronavirus, 1,231 recoveries and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 18,194 tests have been conducted around the country of which 9,607 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 8,587 were PCR tests.
