Municipal buses, Tbilisi Metro to operate until 12 p.m. starting July 1

Georgia is lifting several coronavirus restrictions following today's meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council, announces the government of Georgia. Starting today, wearing a face mask in outdoor space will no longer be mandatory, while the restriction remains in force in gathering places such as bus stops, public transport and indoor spaces. 

Georgia has reported 914 new cases of coronavirus, 635 recoveries and 24 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 27,956 tests have been conducted around the country of which 18,953 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 9,003 were PCR tests. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 360,055 cases of coronavirus, 346,217 recoveries and 5,199 deaths.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has discussed the Covid-19 situation with the area mission chief of the International Monetary Fund James John during an online meeting earlier today. 

After more than a year-long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic Georgia has today opened its land borders. Individuals are admitted through the land borders of Georgia with evidence of full vaccination and negative PCR test results or alternatively only with a negative PCR test result taken within the last 72 hours. A follow up test three days after entry must also be taken.

37,923 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 20,636 of the 37,923 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 17,287 were PCR tests. The country has had 360,828 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 2.42 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.346,792 of the 360,828 patients have recovered, while 5,211 have died from the virus. 

The Parliament of Georgia has extended the right of the government of Georgia to impose Covid-19 restrictions until January 1, 2022. In total 78 members of the parliament voted in favour and 22 against the extension in the 150-member parliament. 

Unpaid fines with a total value of 76 million GEL (about 24.09m/€20.16m) will be written off for 245,000 Georgian citizens and 344 legal entities for not wearing facemasks and staying out of isolation or quarantine, announces Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. He added that the bill to write off the fines was sent to the parliament today and will be approved 'in the shortest period of time'. 

Over 25 individuals registered for vaccination on June 21 were not able to receive the vaccine at the Republic hospital, Infectious Disease hospital and Khechinashvili hospitals due to certain logistic issues.

Georgia has reported 585 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting 12,101 PCR and 9,972 rapid tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 585 new cases 370 were reported in Tbilisi.

Following the request of 24 radio companies operating in Georgia, the government has decided to write off accumulated debt worth 1.5 million GEL for the radio companies by the end of the year, announces Minister of Economy Natia Turnava.

Georgia’s curfew regulations, which have been  in force from 23:00 to 04:00 for seven months, will be lifted in Georgia starting today, however restaurants and food facilities in general will be able to remain open only until 00:00. The operation of nightclubs remains restricted. Municipal buses and Tbilisi Metro will serve passengers from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m starting today.
