Wizz Air reduces flights from Georgia to Italy as coronavirus fears hamper demand

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will reduce the number of flights to several destinations in Italy, including from Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport, due to a decrease in demand for flights as the coronavirus spread in Italy.

From March 12 to April 2 all flights from Kutaisi to Milan have already been cancelled, announced United Airports of Georgia.

Flight frequency will be decreased from Kutaisi to Rome. From March 18 to March 25 flights will be cancelled on Wednesday and will be performed only on Saturday.

From March 17 to March 24 instead of two, one flight will be carried out from Kutaisi to Bologna.

From March 12 to April 2 – three flights cancelled from Kutaisi to Bari. 

The number of coronavirus cases in Italy has jumped to 400, writes the BBC. The rise in Italy, the epicentre of the pathogen in Europe, represents a 25 per cent surge in 24 hours.
