The Land Transport Agency has suspended freight transportation to Italy and Iran amid the  coronavirus outbreak, reports the press office of the agency. They also have cancelled the validity period for permits which had already been issued.

The agency has also cancelled ongoing and planned lessons in its learning centre for two weeks.

Georgia, which paused flights with Iran earlier this month, also imposed restrictions for road travel with the country as soon the new coronavirus Covid-19 was confirmed.

There are two confirmed cases of new coronavirus in Georgia for now.

The first case of the virus was detected on February 26 in Georgia. A 50-year-old Georgian citizen, who travelled in Iran was stopped by Georgian border guards and was immediately placed in  quarantine in Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital. Medics say that he feels good and needs no special treatment for now.

A 31-year-old woman was also tested positive for the new, Chia-born coronavirus Covid-19 today, who had been travelling to Italy.

The head of the National Disease Control Centre Amiran Gamkrelidze said that as of now 29 patients remain at the Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital with samples taken from 24 of them.

The individuals had travelled to countries which are experiencing the outbreak of the respiratory infection.
