The government of Georgia has recommended public institutions avoid overseas business trips except in cases of extreme necessity in order to prevent the further spread of covid-19.
The recommendations also apply to study trips, reported the press office of the Government Administration after the Interagency Coordination Council’s meeting today.
Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze reported at the meeting that the health condition of three recently diagnosed individuals remains satisfactory, 141 individuals who have tested negative for the virus still remain under quarantine throughout Georgia, while 51 are being observed by medics.
Georgia has confirmed two new cases of covid-19 early today, bringing the total number of infected individuals in the country to 15.
Director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Disease Marina Ezugbaia said that four of the 15 infected have pneumonia and are undergoing treatment.
The government of Georgia created a website – www.stopcov.ge – to inform the public about the coronavirus and provide information about the measures taken by the government to prevent the spread of the virus across Georgia.
Several measures have already been taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Direct flights with Iran, Italy and China have been suspended and public schools have been closed in the country until March 16, trucks transiting through Georgia from coronavirus-affected countries (Iran, Italy, and China) will be escorted to border checkpoints.
