Coronavirus update: 1,943 new cases, 1,833 recoveries, 20 deaths

Georgia has reported 1,943 new cases of coronavirus, of which 650 were registered in the capital city of Tbilisi, 506 in the Black Sea Adjara region and 324 in the Imereti region.
Other places where new cases of coronavirus have been registered in the past 24 hours are:
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 200 cases
- Shida Kartli - 100 cases
- Guria - 47 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 46 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 39 cases
- Kakheti - 23 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 4 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti - 4 cases
As for recoveries, 1,833 people recovered in the past 24 hours while the total number of recoveries has reached 28,633.
How many people have died from coronavirus?
In total, 20 people died from coronavirus in Georgia in the past 24 hours. Deaths were reported in:
- Tbilisi - 7
- Adjara - 5
- Imereti - 6
- Shida Kartli - 1
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 1
Since February 26, the day when the coronavirus case was first registered in Georgia, the country has reported 362 death cases.
How many people are currently being treated for coronavirus?
As of today 15,501 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia, of which:
- 8,984 individuals are being treated at home
- 4,253 individuals are undergoing treatment in hospitals
- 3,080 individuals are in quarantine
- 2,264 individuals are in Covid-hotels
- 589 are severe patients
- 281 are on artificial ventilation
In total 28,267 individuals are in self-isolation.
Georgia has had 44,522 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has tested positive for coronavirus. The prime minister’s press office says Gakharia feels well and will stay home to fight the disease. The news follows his announcement yesterday via Facebook that he had gone into self-isolation after one of his security guards tested positive for coronavirus the day before.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava has gone into self-isolation, announces the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Wearing face masks in open public areas will become mandatory around the country starting tomorrow to prevent the further spread of coronavirus, Vice Prime Minister Maia Tskitishvili stated earlier today. If one refuses to wear a face mask in open areas, individuals will be fined 20 GEL. Wearing a face mask was mandatory only in closed public areas up until now. Tskitishvili also said that restaurants around the country will work until 22:00.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava has tested positive for coronavirus. The press office of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia announces that Turnava feels good and will continue treatment at home.
A 96-year-old woman has recovered from coronavirus in the Black Sea resort town of Batumi, Georgia. Her son and daughter-in-law have also recovered from the infection. All three of them were treated at the International University Hospital Batumi, where the family was taken two weeks ago.
Georgia has reported 2,295 new cases of coronavirus, of which 989 were registered in the capital city of Tbilisi, 387 in the Black Sea Adjara region and 387 in the Imereti region. Since February 26, the day when the coronavirus case was first registered in Georgia, the country has reported 381 death cases. As of today 15,240 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
