In-person studies for grades 1-6 resume today in Tbilisi and other big cities, excluding Adjara region

In-person studies for school students in grades one to six have resumed today in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Zugdidi and Poti. School students of all grades in the Adjara region will have to attend  remote classes, as most of the newly infected cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the region in the recent weeks.

Parents can opt to have their children do remote studies.

All pupils have to undergo mandatory thermoscreening before entering schools.

As for school students in grades 7-12, studies will continue in remote mode.

In order to avoid the possible spread of coronavirus, schools have been equipped with protective face masks, thermometers, sanitisers and other preventive measures have been taken.

About 50 new schools were built in Tbilisi and the regions, and infrastructure was provided in about 800 schools for the 2020-21 academic year. Similar projects are underway across the country.

A total of 77 new schools were built in Tbilisi and the regions in 2013-2020 and 2,137 rehabilitation projects were implemented in public schools.

The works are funded by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, and the Government of Adjara.
