All schools in Georgia will have to create a space for medical services by September 15, 2022, says head of parliament's Education Committee Genadi Margvelashvili, who added that the amendments will be introduced into the law of Georgia ‘On general education.’
Margvelashvili said that currently it is not mandatory for schools to have spaces for medical services at schools in Georgia, but this is done on a voluntary basis. Only 23 per cent of schools in Georgia offer such services, which is 481 schools in total.
Who should monitor [the schools], by what standard, how many medical staff should be, how should they be distributed - all these rules will be developed by the Ministries of Education and Health. For example, where there are 2,000 children, there should be a doctor in the school where there are 10 children, this function may be included by the village doctor", Margvelashvili said.
Margvelashvili said that the parliament of the 10th convocation will complete the discussion of the amendments in the spring session.
