Georgian external trade amounts to $12.83 billion in 2019

In January-November 2019 exports from Georgia to the EU countries increased by 14.2 per cent compared to the same period of last year and reached $752.3 million, while imports decreased 7.4 per cent and amounted to $2.09 billion show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia. 

Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $11.5 billion in January-November 2019, which is an increase of 1.4 per cent compared to the same period of last year, show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The external trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries decreased 3.8 per cent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $2.57 billion, while it increased by 0.6 per cent with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and reached $3.54 billion in January-October 2019, show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Export from Georgia reached a historic high in 2019, announced the Georgian government earlier today, stating that exports to the EU also reached a record high, with the value of exports increased 12.4 per cent and reaching $3.77 billion, while imports decreased 0.8 per cent, amounting to $9.06 billion.

Exports from Georgia to the EU increased by 13 per cent in 2019 compared to last year and reached $825.7 million, while imports decreased 7.4 per cent and amounted to $2.32 billion, show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia. The share of exports to EU countries made for 21.9 per cent of total exports, while the share of imports constituted 25.6 per cent of total imports.

Georgia exported more than 87 per cent of its domestic export (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) in 2019 to countries with which it has a free trade agreement, said Deputy Minister of Economy Genadi Arveladze at the meeting with the media representatives on DCFTA matters.

The share of domestic export (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) amounted to 67.4 per cent of total exports in January 2020, reports the government of Georgia.
