The share of domestic export (export of locally produced goods and services, including those of foreign origin that have been substantially changed through local processing) amounted to 67.4 per cent of total exports in January 2020, reports the government of Georgia.
Domestic exports (exports without re-exports) amounted to $177.1 million in January 2020 which is 12.4 per cent more compared to the same period of last year.
The share of domestic exports of agricultural products amounted to 80.4 per cent of the total export of agricultural products in the first month of 2020 which is a 5 per cent increase compared to January 2019.
A major increase was recorded in products including alcoholic beverages (22.9 per cent increase), gold (25.9 per cent increase), copper ores and concentrates (16.1 per cent increase), nitrogen fertilizers (31.5 per cent increase) and precious metal ores which has not been exported last year.
Also, an increase in the export of nuts (31.1 per cent), spices (93.4 per cent), citrus (83.1 per cent) and plums (207 per cent) was recorded in January 2020.
Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $882.4 million in January 2020, which is an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to the same period of last year.
The value of exports increased 10 per cent and reached $262.6 million, while imports increased 3.9 per cent, amounting to $619.7 million.
The trade deficit of Georgia in January 2020 amounted to $357.1 million which is 40.5 per cent of total trade turnover.
In 2019, the value of exports increased 12.4 per cent and reached $3.77 billion, while imports decreased 0.8 per cent, amounting to $9.06 billion.
Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $12.83 billion in 2019, which is an increase of 2.7 per cent compared to last year.
