Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $13.3 bln in 2019 which is a 4.5 per cent increase compared to last year, show data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The value of exports increased 12.4 per cent compared to last year and reached $3.8 billion, while imports increased 1.7 per cent and amounted to $9.5 bln.
The trade deficit of Georgia in 2019 amounted to $5.7 billion which is 42.9 per cent of total trade turnover.
Major export commodity positions in 2019 were motor cars ($732.8 million), copper ores and concentrates ($649.4 million), ferro-alloys ($303.4 million) and wine ($222.8 million).
Major import commodity positions in 2019 were motor cars ($1.1 billion), petroleum and petroleum oils ($757.4 million), copper ores and concentrates ($603.7 million) and medications ($355.2 million).
