The new President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda said that his country “consistently supports” sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and condemns resumption of “borderisation” process on occupied territories.
Gitanas Nausėda made remarks during his meeting with the Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who paid a visit to Vilnius on August 22.
During the meeting the Georgian and Lithuanian presidents discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of politics, security, economy and culture.

President Nausėda said Lithuania "upholds Georgia’s efforts to seek closer integration with the European Union, especially in terms of implementation of the Association Agreement”".

Opening the annual Valdas Adamkus Conference, Nausėda said that the future of Eastern Partnership will depend on the success of political reforms in six East European countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
We support the swift implementation of association agreements between EU, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.", he stated.
At the Conference Salome Zurabishvili spoke about Georgia’s European perspective and Europe’s long-standing commitment to peace, unity and freedom.

Gitanas Nauseda was elected as the new President of Lithuania in May this year, replacing Dalia Grybauskaite.
