Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili says that Lithuania is a good example for Georgia on how to join NATO and the EU.
Lithuania has already walked the path we are standing on. Lithuania is an example for us,” Zurabishvili said after her meeting with her Lithuanian counterpart Dalia Grybauskaite.

Welcome to #Lithuania, Madam President! pic.twitter.com/6W3BNH281d
It was how Zurabishvili was welcomed in Lithuania. Lithuanian FM Linas Linkevicius tweeted in Georgian: there is a special connection between Georgian and Lithuanian people. We firmly support your Euro-Atlantic integration.
She said that Georgia needs and receives continued support from Lithuania.
We are thankful that Lithuania provides all its efforts to help us enter NATO and the EU. Your country supports our sovereignty and territorial integrity and you are involved in the activities of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia,” Zurabishvili said.

She stated that Grybauskaite’s visit to Georgia last year, on the Day of Independence of Georgia, once again confirmed the devoted friendship between the two countries.

Speaking about NATO-Georgia relations Zurabishvili said that Georgia is “on the final stage” of reforms.
Grybauskaite praised Georgia’s “big achievements” in terms of cooperation with the EU.
At the #Antakalnis Cemetery, I laid a wreath in memory of the heroes that died for #Lithuanian independence. I also had the chance to commemorate Capt. Datiko Machavariani, who fought for the First Republic of Georgia and found asylum in #Vilnius after the Soviet invasion of 1921 pic.twitter.com/VKseOjF3N0

The Association Agreement with the EU, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area deal, visa free travel with the EU are the achievements of Georgia. However, the pace of democratic reforms and the quality of their implementation are very important. Georgia should continue reforming its court system and continue the fight against corruption,” she said.
Grybauskaite said that when Georgia is ready, the NATO door will open.
