Lithuania sends medical supplies to Georgia, Armenia, Moldova to help in fight against coronavirus

The Lithuanian government has sent essential medical supplies to combat the coronavirus to Georgia, Armenia and Moldova.
The medical devices were manufactured in Lithuania.

52,600 protective face shields worth EUR 100,000 were acquired from UAB Baltic Digital Printing and UAB Mediena Era.
Lithuania also sent humanitarian cargo to Ukraine on May 13.
The Lithuanian Air Force delivered the humanitarian cargo.
The new President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda said that his country “consistently supports” sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and condemns resumption of “borderisation” process on occupied territories. Gitanas Nausėda made remarks during his meeting with the Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who paid a visit to Vilnius on August 22.
Lithuania is one of the first countries that has joined a new campaign supporting the Georgia’s tourism industry by calling on more of their citizens to visit the country. Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia Giedrius Poudziunas believes Georgia is “a wonderful environment” for adventure.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze stated at a reception dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day in Vilnius that the friendship of Lithuania and Georgia is special.
After Lithuania recently changed the official name of Georgia in the Lithuanian language from Gruzija to Sakartvelo, the Georgian embassy has placed a new sign on its premises reading ‘Sakartvelo Ambasada’, or Embassy of Georgia in Lithuanian.
Georgian frontline health workers have received 7,500 protective face shields produced by Georgian company CaucasPack from the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme. UNDP, with assistance from the EU and the US, is also ensuring that protective equipment and other medical supplies are provided to Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Abkhazia ‘to mitigate COVID-19 risks’.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said the ‘high sense of responsibility’ of Georgian citizens, ‘swift government action’ and international support from its partners ‘have been invaluable’ in the fight against the coronavirus. PM Gakharia also referred to the recent article of the Washington Post which named Georgia among countries, which have ‘gained newfound recognition as the world takes note of their early, and still tentative, successes’.
Georgian citizens and residents of the country will no longer be asked to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine on arrival in Lithuania.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili as part of his official visit to Georgia earlier today.
“I want to confirm that Lithuania is a true friend of Georgia, Georgian people and a true supporter of it’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations”, Lithuanian FM Gabrielius Landsbergis said after a meeting with his Georgian counterpart, David Zalkaliani.
