Georgia receives almost $114m in remittances in February 2018

Georgia received $113.9 million from abroad in February 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $18 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Last month Georgia received 21 percent more in remittances than in February of 2017.

Russia ($33.4 million), Italy ($14.1 million) and Greece ($13.4 million) were the largest remittance senders in February 2018.

Overall, the vast majority (90.5 percent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 12 countries.

After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in February 2018 included:

  • Israel - $11.8 million
  • Turkey - $9.9 million
  • United States – $8.2 million
  • Germany – $3.1 million
  • Spain - $3 million
  • Ukraine - $2.2 million
  • France - $1.4 million
  • Azerbaijan - $1.3 million
  • United Kingdom - $1.3 million
