Russia, Greece and Italy are the largest remittance senders in April 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
Last month Georgia received $35.3 million in remittances from Russia, $14.5 million from Italy and $14.9 million from Greece.
Overall, the volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia constituted $123.9 million, which is 17.1 percent more than the amount in April 2017.
The vast majority (92.68 percent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 15 countries.
After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries from where money transfers are regularly sent to Georgia in April 2018 included:
- United States – $12.7 million
- Israel - $11.8 million
- Turkey - $9.3 million
- Spain - $ 3.4 million
- Germany - $3.3 million
- Ukraine - $2.2 million
- Azerbaijan - $1.5 million
- France - $1.5 million
- United Kingdom - $1.3 million
- Kazakhstan - $1.1 million
- Poland - $1 million
- Canada - $1 million
Remittances leaving Georgia totalled $18.5 million in April of 2017.
Russia, Italy and Greece are the largest remittance senders in March 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). Last month Georgia received $38.1 million in remittances from Russia, $15.5 million from Italy and $13.7 million from Greece.
Georgia received $113.9 million from abroad in February 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $18 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.
Georgia received $110 million from abroad in January 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $15 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.
Georgia received $123 million from abroad in October 2017, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $18.5 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.
More than $135 million was sent to Georgia from abroad during June of this year which is a 14.8 percent increase in remittances y/y.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella arrived in Georgia today on his first official visit to the country.

The Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has initiated consultations on an agreement which concerns the protection and support of investments between Georgia and Italy. He said that Georgia has already signed such a document with 34 foreign countries.
Georgia received $144.2 million from abroad in July 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $ 18.9 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.
Georgia received $131.3 million from abroad in September 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $ 18.9 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.
Georgia received $137.2 million from abroad in October 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $21.2 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

The two leaders emphasised the existing potential in terms of intensified trade and economic cooperation.
