Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office has detained five former employees of Gldani #8 and Rustavi #6 prisons, who systematically abused and mistreated prisoners in 2011-2012, under the United Movement leadership.
The detainees have not been identified.
The Prosecutor’s Office reported that the people were detained through the consent of the court, as based on evidence they verbally and physically abused all prisoners under their supervision to make them obey their commands.
The violence was systematic,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated that in total 72 prison employees have been charged since 2012, among them eight directors of prisons and seven deputy directors.
