The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged two individuals with gang robbery, damage to health, extortion of money and inhumane treatment committed in Georgia’s eastern Kvareli municipality, the state body said on Wednesday.

In its statement, the Office said an inquiry by the Interior Ministry had revealed the arrested individuals had verbally and physically assaulted a 68-year-old man and extorted money from him.

The offenders had also forced the victim to commit specific actions “humiliating to his honour and dignity”, the state body said, recording the process and threatening the victim with releasing the footage unless paid.

The two individuals are set to face up to 10 years in prison.
