A middle-aged resident has been snatched by Russian guards for allegedly attempting to cross the so-called border between Georgia and breakaway Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
Fifty-year-old Elizbar Durglishvili was shepherding sheep when he was detained by Russian soldiers for "illegally crossing the so-called border”. He is believed to have been taken to occupied Tskhinvali.
Durglishvili is a resident of Bershueti village, located in the Gori municipality.
Head of the Analytical Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Shalva Enukidze confirmed the Georgian side was trying to locate Durglishvili through the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) hotline.
"Russian occupational forces have illegally detained Bershueti resident Elizbar Durglishvili on the charge of illegally crossing the so-called border. The EU Monitoring Mission has already confirmed the detainment of Durglishvili through the hotline,” he said.
