The Georgian police arrested 22 individuals, including 17 for drug dealing, in the Ponichala district of Tbilisi and in a number of regions of Georgia on Tuesday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia announced.
Identified only through their initials, eight out of the 17 individuals were previously convicted. The group has been charged with illegal purchase, storage and sale of drugs in especially large quantities.
Law enforcement also seized the drugs - including ones “ready for injection” - as well as about $7,210 in cash.
The MIA said the apprehended individuals sold drugs “on a regular basis”. The crime is punishable by eight to 20 years in prison, or life imprisonment.
