Georgian police have arrested 10 individuals, including foreign citizens, for sale, purchase and possession of illegal drugs in Tbilisi and other regions of the country.
Teimuraz Kupatadze, the head of the central criminal police department at the interior ministry, told the media on Monday citizens of Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia had been involved in the cases of smuggling a “large quantity” of drugs into the country “through different means”.
Police officers have seized a “large amount of money”, as well as “significant quantities” of heroin, cocaine and other drugs during a personal search of the suspects.
The crime is punishable up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
