Police arrest 8 for drug-related crime, seize large quantities

Georgian police have arrested eight individuals for illegal purchase and possession of large quantities of drugs in capital Tbilisi and the western regions of Adjara and Imereti, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said on Thursday.

Identified only through their initials, the apprehended persons include five charged with drug dealing, among whom three have previously been convicted.

Police officers seized 250 pills of MDMA, 24 pills of suboxone, nine packages of heroin and other types of drugs, the Ministry said.

The crime is punishable by five to 20 years in prison, or life imprisonment.
