FIS Secretary General praises Georgia’s hosting of Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships

Georgia deserves a “round of applause” for the level of its hosting of the ongoing Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in Bakuriani, Michel Vion, the Secretary General of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, said in comments released by the country’s Mountain Trails Agency on Thursday.

Vion highlighted the “impressively high-level” of the event in terms of infrastructure and organisation, noting the involved athletes and coaches were “very satisfied” with the tournament.

The comments come following the latest results from the competition, where the British team were revealed as winners of the mixed team snowboard cross finals run on Didveli Mountain in the resort. Austria and France earned silver and bronze in the category respectively.

In other contests, the finals for the snowboard cross for women and men were held on Wednesday, with the Czech Republic’s Eva Adamczyková and Austria’s Dusek Jacob earning gold medals. Austrian athlete Baff Josie and the United States’ Jacobellis Lindsey finished second and third in the women’s category, with Noerl Martin from Germany and Visintin Omar from France taking the remaining podium places for men.
