Georgian basketball player Giorgi Shermadini takes “historic” 11th Spanish league's MVP of month

The Georgian national basketball team and the Spanish club Lenovo Tenerife centre Giorgi Shermadini has been awarded the Most Valuable Player of the month prize of the top Spanish basketball league, becoming the player with the most Movistar MVP in the history of the Endesa League with 11 awards.

The Georgian centre player has surpassed American former professional basketball player Tanoka Beard’s record and became the all-time leader of the title, the Georgian Basketball Federation announced on Tuesday.

Shermadini also won his 18th award for Player of the Day and can break another record of becoming the all-time leader of the title, which has been jointly dominated by Lithuanian Arvydas Sabonis and American Lou Roe for more than 16 years with 19 awards.
