Georgia's progress on the European Union accession path and implementation of the bloc’s conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.
At the meeting, held as part of Garibashvili’s working visit to Brussels, the PM stressed the importance of granting the status to Georgia and expressed hope that the country’s efforts in the fulfilment of the EU priorities would be “properly reflected” in the European Commission’s upcoming report.
In his comments following the “fruitful” meeting, Garibashvili said Georgia was “eagerly awaiting” the decision on EU candidacy.
