Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Wednesday briefed Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, on the country’s “positive dynamics” in implementing the priorities outlined by the European Union last year for granting its membership candidate status to Georgia.
Garibashvili noted the recognition of the country's European perspective last year by the European Commission as a “historic decision”, and emphasised the “strategic importance” of the country receiving the candidate status at the end of 2023, the Government Administration said.
He also noted his Government’s efforts to “fully meet” the list of conditions outlined for the membership status.
