Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday said the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili had a “very in-depth” conversation with Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, earlier today, discussing Georgia’s EU integration.

Darchiashvili noted the PM briefed the Commissioner Varhelyi “in detail” on the steps taken by the Georgian authorities, including the legislative changes made for the fulfilment of the 12 priorities outlined by the European Commission for granting the status to the country later this year.

We are sure that the [Georgia’s] efforts will be properly appreciated and presented in the European Commission’s report, [...] which will be a very strong impetus to the European Council to make the appropriate decision by the end of the year and grant Georgia the candidate status”, Darchiashvili stressed.
