Georgia's progress on the European Union accession path and implementation of the bloc’s conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.
In his remarks following a meeting, Darchiashvili stressed his Government was staying “committed to our goal” of becoming a fully-fledged member of the EU.

Darchiashvili informed the European Commissioner about the work done by the Georgian Government for fulfilling the EU conditions and noted “once again” that the country would ensure further progress in this direction “as much as possible”, the Georgian foreign office said.
Varhelyi welcomed the efforts, especially the steps taken recently in the implementation of the recommendations, and expressed his “readiness” to continue “close” coordination with the Georgian Government.
