Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Dubravka Šuica, the Vice-President of the European Commission, on Tuesday discussed the country’s progress on fulfilling the 12 priorities outlined by the bloc to grant its candidate membership status to the country.
At the meeting held on the sidelines of Darchiashvili’s visit to Strasbourg, he briefed Šuica on the steps taken by the Georgian side on EU integration and the achieved results in this regard.

The implemented reforms and the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country were also reviewed by the officials, with Georgian FM reaffirming the country’s commitment to continuing efforts to further enhance the existing cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.
Darchiashvili expressed hope that European partners would make “another historic decision [after the country received the European perspective in June 2022]” and Georgia would be granted the candidate status.
