Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Tuesday said his Government had achieved “specific and tangible” results in fulfilling the priorities set by the European Commission for granting the country the European Union membership candidate status.

In remarks over his visit to Brussels this week, where he held high-level meetings with officials of EU institutions, Darchiashvili noted the conversation with European commissioners had focused on reforms carried out for approximation of domestic areas to the standards of the European Union.

The reform agenda is the top priority for us. We will continue to work actively in this direction in order to reach the final goal, the eventual [EU] membership of our country. This is a difficult but very important path for us”, Darchiashvili said.
