Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday highlighted Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s participation in the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels, by saying the Government head would present “the vision of Georgia, how we see the development of important infrastructure projects in the future”.

Garibashvili will be the main speaker at a working panel hosted at the Forum. The Georgian official was invited to the event by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

“The Global Gateway Forum will discuss the opportunities that the EU offers in terms of connectivity to various countries, including politically associated countries”, Darchiashvili said.

The top Georgian diplomat stressed connectivity was “one of the most important” matters for the country, and “developing in parallel with our political affiliation and association with the European Union”.

We have a number of very important flagship projects with the European Union, which bring Georgia physically closer and further improve our connectivity with the European Union, and it is very important that the Prime Minister of Georgia, as one of the keynote speakers, will present Georgia's vision of how we see the development of important infrastructure projects in the future in order to bring Georgia even closer physically to the European Union”, the Georgian official noted.

Darchiashvili also added the discussions would also focus on the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project - aimed to connect the South Caucasus grid to EU member states - to “create even more opportunities” for the EU and Europe to be more diversified in terms of electricity supply.
