Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday said the country’s legislative delegation had arrived in Prague, the Czech Republic, to express Tbilisi’s support for Ukraine at the Second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform on Tuesday.
Initiated by the Ukrainian President in 2021 to raise the international awareness of Russia’s ongoing occupation of Crimea, the Platform will see the Georgian delegates address participants, with over 60 delegations in attendance, Botchorishvili said.
She also stressed the “key message” of her country’s delegation would be the “support for the Ukrainian people and Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence”.
This platform was created to support Ukraine, and Georgia's participation in it once again confirms Tbilisi’s support for the Ukrainian people and the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the MP said.
The lawmaker added the delegation would also use the international event as an opportunity to discuss topics related to Georgia with foreign delegations and politicians.
Along with raising the awareness of the international community of Russia’s illegitimate occupation of Crimea, the platform also focuses on negative impacts of the ongoing occupation on the human rights of the local population, security of the Black Sea region, global food security and rules-based world order.
