Georgia “firmly stands” by “the friendly Ukrainian people”, which has been expressed “not only by words” but also by “strong” political and humanitarian support, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Saturday marking the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Exactly two years ago, a great injustice happened to our friendly Ukrainian people. Russia's military aggression has killed tens of thousands of Ukrainians, including hundreds of children”, the PM noted in his social media post.

Kobakhidze emphasised that more than 10 million people had become refugees or internally displaced, with the country’s economy and infrastructure destroyed and 20 percent of territory occupied amid the war.
