Georgian President to participate in Crimea Platform summit

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili will participate in the second summit of the Crimea Platform, created at the initiative of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Tuesday, the Presidential Administration said.
The summit is held in an online format and aims to improve the effectiveness of the international response to the ongoing occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security threats, increase international pressure on Russia and de-occupy the peninsula.
Zourabichvili will address summit participants, world leaders and representatives of international organisations at the event.
Set up by the Ukrainian President in August 2021 as an international consultation and coordination format to streamline Crimea-related issues, the platform involves work for practical approaches to draw attention to the situation in Crimea and discuss the possibilities for returning the peninsula to Ukraine's control.
Georgia has “strongly supported" Ukraine in political, diplomatic and humanitarian dimensions since the beginning of the military aggression of Russia on the country, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said in a report on the Government's activities, submitted to the Georgian Parliament on Wednesday.
Georgia is “very much in solidarity” with Ukraine, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili told Imedi TV on Friday, adding the country had offered assistance to Ukraine starting with the “very first day” of the Russian invasion.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has highlighted Georgia's contribution to international support for Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion by saying his Government was "doing its best" both in sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine and providing assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war and currently located in Georgia.
Georgia’s contribution to international support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of the country is valued at $7 million, with the country continuing to provide assistance to more than 28,000 Ukrainians affected by the war and currently located in Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Thursday at the International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine in Poland.
